Birstall is a thriving and attractive village that lies just three short miles away from Leicester city centre. Its popular location means it combines the very best of both worlds: all the benefits of being close to local amenities and independent stores, yet with larger retailers and attractions also on the doorstep.
Birstall’s location is also unique. Situated around the A6 – one of the main roads into Leicester – it is also within close proximity of the A46 Leicester Western Bypass which leads directly on to the M1 or on to Loughborough, making commuting north or south simple, effortless and straightforward.
What is particularly interesting about Birstall is the fact that the Grand Union Canal runs through the bottom of the village, separating it from Watermead Country Park, one of the many nearby attractions of this popular location.
The village also plays host to Birstall Golf Club, which was established in 1901 and was the first golf club to open in Leicestershire. As well as School Lane Recreational Park which is ideal for toddlers, there is also the Leicestershire Space Centre nearby.
The White Horse is known to many as the place to go for great food in Birstall – it’s one of the most popular places for locals who enjoy great quality food and drink at reasonable prices.
