Living in New Homes in Leicestershire FAQs

Leicestershire offers plenty of great career opportunities. Headquarters for companies like Walkers, Next and Samworth Brothers are based here, alongside the Synter Group and Triumph Motorcycles. Have a career in tech and engineering? The MIRA Technology Park near Hinckley is a world-leading site for automotive engineering and advanced testing.

The county is also home to high-achieving schools, including Rushey Mead Academy and Leicester Grammar School, which consistently rank among the top schools in the East Midlands. Plus, having three major universities, Leicester, De Montfort and Loughborough University, right on your doorstep brings plenty of innovation and specialised jobs to the area.

One of the main reasons people move to Leicestershire is the easy access to the countryside. From your new home, you can see the wild deer at Bradgate Park, explore the ancient woodland at The Outwoods, or take in views from Beacon Hill Country Park.

The National Forest covers a large part of the north of the county, providing thousands of new woodland and trails for hiking or cycling. For water-based activities, the River Soar and nearby Rutland Water offer space for sailing and walking. And because Leicester sits right in the middle of England, you can easily drive over to neighbouring Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, or Warwickshire if you want to explore further afield.

Beyond its beautiful green spaces, there are plenty of things to see and do in Leicestershire. You can take the kids to the National Space Centre to see the upright rockets or head over to the King Richard III Visitor Centre to see where the lost king was famously found in a car park. If you prefer being outdoors, you have Foxton Locks, where you can watch the canal boats navigate the longest and steepest staircase of locks in the UK before grabbing a drink at the pub.

If you enjoy watching sports, you can join the crowd at the King Power Stadium for a Leicester City match, watch the Leicester Tigers play at Welford Road, or spend a summer day at Grace Road watching the cricket.

Music and food are also a huge part of the local calendar. Every summer, Donington Park welcomes thousands of fans for the Download Festival, but there are also smaller, local events like the Melton Mowbray Food Festival and Leicester Comedy Festival.

Located in the Midlands, you'll be well-connected in our new build developments in Leicestershire. The county is perfectly positioned, with major motorways like the M1, M6, and M69 which make road travel easy. The A46 also provides a direct link between Leicester, Nottingham, and Newark.

If you take the train from Leicester station, you can be at London St Pancras in about an hour, making it easy to commute or head down for a day out. Travelling further afield? East Midlands Airport is right on the county border, offering flights to destinations across Europe and beyond.
