Jelson bucks trend of house price increases

According to Nationwide this month, average property values across Leicestershire now stand at £200,000 – a 5.7% increase on this time last year. Whilst this is a significant rise during a relatively short period of time, Jelson Homes is pleased to announce that for those who may struggle to afford a property of this value, there is plenty of choice across the region below the £200,000 price mark.

Jackie Woodward, sales manager for Jelson Homes, comments: “First-time buyers and second steppers shouldn’t be disheartened with news of the price increase because there are plenty of brand-new properties still to be snapped up.

“Whether it’s two or three-bedroom properties in a variety of designs, we most certainly have some great choices in prime locations across the region, and which will no doubt increase in value over the coming years.

“With generation rent taking hold of younger people both in Leicestershire and the country as a whole, finding affordable properties is now more important than ever, and with ‘bank of mum and dad’ playing such an important role in the funding of house moves, demand for a low-cost, low-maintenance house is increasing all of the time.”

According to the English Housing Survey from the Department for Communities and Local Government, home ownership is the lowest on record since 1985.

Jackie adds: “With rising inflation, weak wage growth, and new expense increases through water, TV licensing and council tax recent as well as Article50 triggering, it’s understandable that people are perhaps being cautious about what to buy and what they can afford. However, we would encourage all those who are in the market for moving to pay us a visit where we’re sure they will be pleasantly surprised with our prices and properties available.”
