What is National Apprenticeship Week?

National Apprenticeship Week

The 7th to the 13th of February sees the 2022 National Apprenticeship Week (NAW). So, what is National Apprenticeship Week?

Each year there is a whole week set aside to celebrate apprenticeships! Highlighting both the amazing work of the apprentices, and the benefits to their employers. Not to mention what apprenticeships bring to the workforce. Though many companies do shout about the good work of their apprentices, this week is a special time to really promote the difference they are making.

NAW 2022 is particularly special to Jelson, as the theme is ‘build the future’. Showcasing that apprentices can develop knowledge and expertise that build towards a long and rewarding career. But a little bit more on the nose for our industry, not only do our apprentices build their futures, but also the homes and lives of many others. Not to mention build our company's future by being a valued member of our team.

Jelson has worked with apprentices for a long time. As a family-run business, we like to grow and nourish our team, and train up those who have passion and drive to also have skills, knowledge, and confidence. You could say we are building our foundations with our team.

How can you get involved?

There are many hashtags and Twitter events running throughout the week, such as #AskAnEmployer, #AskAnApprentice, #NAW2022, and #BuildTheFuture if you would like to get involved on social media. If you want to know more about apprenticeships, you can get first-hand accounts from both employers and employees.

If you are currently doing an apprenticeship, why not share your story? Not just through the hashtags, but also video content. Showing some of what you do day to day or talking through why you chose an apprenticeship may help to educate and inspire others.

If you are an employer with apprentices, why not host an awards event, to highlight all the good things that this scheme has brought to your company?

Find out more about apprenticeships and whether they are for you. You can also find out more about apprenticeships with Jelson on our academy page, including interviews with previous apprentices. Applications for Jelson apprenticeships open from 28th February, so keep your eyes peeled on our apprenticeship page for more info on how to apply.
